You can follow along in your sandbox course
How do we keep these students from opening up another tab, browser, or window to attempt to google the answers?
If a student is time limited, are there answers automatically submitted?
@Matthew, you can trun on Respondus lockdown browser for that. Your LMS admin can help you set that up
Yes, a message will appear and let’s the student know time is up and that they must submit.
Sorry, "their" answers.
If they do not submit, what happens?
Why don’t I see “Tests” in my drop down box under the Assignment Group?
Time Limit . You can choose to set a time limit by entering the number of minutes students have to complete the entire quiz. Timed quizzes begin once a student begins the exam and will not be paused if the student navigates away from the quiz. An unfinished timed quiz will be automatically submitted when the time limit expires. If no time limit is set, students will have unlimited time to complete the quiz.
You have to create an assignment group called “Tests”.
The only assignment group that is created in all Canvas courses defaults to simply “Assignments”
How can you award partial credits in multiple choice answers type of questions?
@mirela, are there mutliple answers or just 1 correct answer?
Can you import quizzes from a publisher? Or will you get to that later or in another webinar session?
@ahawkes, yes. You will download whats called a QTI zip file and upload it. I wil lsend you a reource in a second
One correct answer, but the other choices may be partially correct. I would like to award 1 point for answering a), 0.5 points for answering b) and 0 points for answering c)
@mirela, this is available in Quizzes.next. However, I am not sure about the version she is using tonight.
Using Quizzes.next prevents me for using the lockdown browser. It seems like is one or the other?!
@mirela, for the time being, yes. Down the road, quizzes.next will be more streamline. They are working out the kinks
Mirela, yes, right now that is true. It is one or the other. However, hopefully with future updates that will be fixed.
Sounds good. Thank you!
I have to go but I’ve enjoyed the presentation so far.
thanks for joining us!
Can fill in the blank questions have pattern matching like they can in Blackboard?
@john, not sure what you mean. Could you provide an example?
using wild cards something like "wom?n" to match woman or women
oh yes, you can type in as many options as possible. Let me see if i can find you a resource
John that resource will answer your questions.
Thanks. appears the answer is "no" :(
It is if you create what you “think” they might type.
So you would have to have several answer options with the Most Common mistakes as correct answers. It would not catch everything but should do an OK job.
MAy 17? I heard May 30
Diana, you will need to talk to your LMS Admin.
That document will also help you to move your tests from Blackboard to Canvas.
Video how to move tests from Bb to Canvas.
What about linking up with Connect for testing?
@john, you can do that through an LTI
We will stay on for a few minutes if you have any questions!
Do you have to export test banks into each course on the dashboard, or is there a common place where all courses can share?
Can you show us how to use Quizzes.next. ?
@ablackwell. They are course specific.
I get my questions from the point, is that do able?
Mirela, we are going to do that in it’s own webinar
@lawrencia, the point? could you clarify?
Also, all past recordings can be found here.
Where the text book is from.
When will the past webinars be posted or sent via email to view at your own leisure?
What about importing from Cengage Cognero?
I can never find the survey
Textbook resources can be downloaded and uploaded via QTI zip.
