How do I insert course files into the Rich Content Editor using the Content Selector as an instructor? https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-12991-415265829
Maia
39:26
Can you do more than one document inthe course syllabus section?
Gannon Nordberg
39:42
The inline preview of a document is *really* useful to students because they can view the file directly in Canvas without having to download it first.
Gannon Nordberg
40:09
@maia yes! You can put as many in there as you like. That’s the beauty of the rich content editor
jacquelinespencer
40:57
The syllabus can be either a MSWord document or a PDF?
Gannon Nordberg
41:27
@jacquelinespencer yes! Or Google Doc or technically any number of other file types.
Elizabeth Moore
42:24
how did he link the syllabus to the text
Jason Vance
42:32
Maia, do you mean post more than one document? if so, then yes. It is just a matter of re-positionign the cursor and selecting another document from the Files directory.
Gannon Nordberg
43:15
@elizabeth check out this Canvas help guide: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-12991-415265829
Gannon Nordberg
44:24
Due dates are *important* for students to know what is coming up in the course and helps them with time management
alooctan
44:37
I love that "no date" think. I am interrupted a lot and then forget if I finished something.
alooctan
44:55
thing...not think
ANITA
45:22
What if your course summary section is empty right now.... How do I add items into th course summary???
Gannon Nordberg
45:25
@aloctan exactly! An easy way to see if you’ve missed adding a due date to anything
Gannon Nordberg
45:53
@anita any item with a due date in Canvas is automatically added to the course summary. You shouldn’t have to do anything extra to add it

49:44
How do I use the Calendar as an instructor? https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-12911-415254669
Page Durham
49:50
Anita, the course summary will populate once you start adding assignments, quizzes and discussion boards that have dates.
Diana
51:09
I do not have the choice "My To Do".
egorelick@germanna.edu
51:36
how do you place "discussion" on the calender?
Page Durham
52:14
Evan, you will add the discussion in your course and put a due date. Then it will show up on your calendar.
egorelick@germanna.edu
53:20
Page, Thanks..it seems that is the way to put assignments, midterms, finals, as well (on line course)
Diana
53:48
Do I have to make a To Do item first to get the choice for My To Do in the edit tabs?
Gannon Nordberg
54:26
@diana interesting. I’m not sure actually. I’ll see if I can find out more about this option.
Diana
54:33
My To DO is not an option. I have three tabs.
Page Durham
54:34
Evan, yes, you should be building your course from the modules. Once you create them and add the due date, it will show up on the calendar.
ANITA
55:13
@gannon i do not have a 'To Do' item as well
alooctan
55:37
How does it know that the "5" is am or pm?
jmcmi
55:47
can students see the instruction's ToDo items?
Gannon Nordberg
56:25
@alooctan it shows 5p for PM
alooctan
56:46
I know but he only typed "5" unless I missed him typing the p.
alooctan
57:01
I only typed 5 too, and it selected pm.
Page Durham
57:07
https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-15245-4212947405
Gannon Nordberg
57:27
@alooctan if you type 20 for the time, it will be 8pm. Military time. 5 = AM
alooctan
58:06
right. Except I typed just "5" and it added the p. No big deal, I thought I missed something.
Gannon Nordberg
59:04
@alooctan your mileage may vary then. Just look at the time written out in full when you enter a number and it will tell you specifically AM or PM
Maia
59:53
This changes the due date within the syllabus tool as well?
alooctan
01:00:15
Hah! Love that!
Gannon Nordberg
01:00:15
@maia correct
Jason Vance
01:01:34
@anita...are you saying the My To-Do tab did not display?
Diana
01:03:32
Right, I do not have MyTo Do tab at all either. I have Event, Assignment, and Appointment Group. Only 3 tabs.
alooctan
01:03:49
This was awesome (as usual). Thanks!

@diana do you have a sandbox shell?
Diana
01:04:44
I am working in a Sandbox shell
Maia
01:05:09
It would help if there were more than one date for each webinar. If you can't make one date, you've missed that entire section of instruction.
Sharon Reeves
01:05:25
Thank you!
Gannon Nordberg
01:05:35
@maia I hear you. That’s why we’re recording each one so others can watch that had a conflict with the date and time.
ANITA
01:05:39
How do I set up my grades once the assignments have been created in the calendar/course summary?
Maia
01:05:52
When will those recordings be available/
jmcmi
01:06:10
If you change colors in Calendar, will it change the color of the course tile on Dashboard as well?
Jason Vance
01:06:19
@Maia... check my email from yesterday. THe link should be there
Maia
01:06:31
Thanks, Jason.
Karen
01:06:32
